More Omnitech GPS
I've been driving around with the Omnitech GPS, and I can't say that I really have any complaints. The mount is kind of bulky, but it seems to do its job....
Here are some more pics of the GPS in daytime mode....
It looks fine if you ask me. You can also set it to 3D mode, but there isn't much difference....
It's true test will come after Christmas when I drive down to New York, I'll let you know how it goes.

Riviera Maya Here I Come
Okay, I know I said it was a balmy 5C, but come on! Looking at those pictures of the frozen pond made me think of that waterfall in Dominica, or the waterfall in Pagsanjan, or the waterfall at the Hidden Valley Springs. All of which I was able to bathe in. I'm definitely not going to attempt that in the backyard waterfall, but it definitely got me into thinking about getting away to some place warm. Some place like the River Maya in Mexico. I can just imagine swimming in the warm blue waters, or lying on the warm sands of a Riviera Maya beach.... sounds like paradise right about now! I found Riviera Maya Resorts by KarismaHotels.com. You need to check them out, they've got all sorts of different resort packages whether you're taking the whole family or it's just the two of you, they've got the right resort with the right kind of atmosphere for you. So before you plan your next trip the the Mexican Riviera, check out KarismaHotels.com, and let them help you plan the perfect beach vacation.
Wintry Pond...What's Left Of It
I just went outside to check on the pond. It's pretty nice out there, a balmy 5 C I think. It hasn't started to rain as of yet, but some of the ice and snow on top of the pond is melting. The waterfall is visible again. Here's a shot of what's left of the pond....
The other side of the pond has a hole in it made by the pump's fountain head. I left them running, to see it they could last the winter....
I'm hoping that the fish will survive through the winter even if I don't put a heater to keep the surface ventilated. We'll find out in a few months. Here's a shot of the waterfall, this is what the birds are fighting over...

Lotus Project III Update
I scarified another three of the pink lotus seeds from Thailand, and they came out pretty nicely after two days as expected. I decided that I wanted to minimize the risk of the seeds acquiring that mold like growth, so I planted them into soil right away. Before planting them into the soil, I attempted to sterilize the soil by boiling the soil together with the plastic tub containing it for several minutes. I then microwaved the soil for about two minutes, hoping that this process would kill off anything that might be living in there. All of the previously germinated pink lotus from Thailand have all died. It appears that even if the mold like growth does not appear on the surface, it still survives on the seed underneath the soil, and rots the plant to death beneath the soil surface. Anyways, I placed the three newly planted pick lotuses from Thailand in the south facing aquarium. A day later, they all have the mold like growth on them! I'm beginning to suspect that either that particular aquarium is contaminated, or the actual seeds are contaminated. Of the five pink lotus seeds from Thailand that I've previously germinated, only one has survived. I have removed the three newly germinated pink lotus seeds from Thailand from that aquarium, cleaned off the mold like growth with tissue, and placed them in the north facing aquarium. Hopefully, they won't perish like the rest of their siblings.
Payday Loans
Speaking of holiday shopping, another thing I hate about it would have to be spending money! Especially when I don't have it to spend. My poor credit cards are melting away in my wallet they've been swiped so many times.... Where are the paychecks when you need them? Don't fret my dear shoppers, there's always payday loans to the rescue. When those paychecks are too far off in the distant future, just borrow the money! If you live in the Montana area, then you need to check out CheckCity.com. They are a leader in online payday lending, and they have just been licensed by the state of Montana. Montana consumers can be confident that with CheckCity.com, each loan received is legal and conducted under the laws of Montana. Furthermore, CheckCity.com makes customer service and satisfaction the number one priority. With a secure website, a no hassle sign up process, and competitive prices, they have become one of the fastest growing online payday lenders in the nation. So if you are in need of a payday loan, just in time for the final shopping days before Christmas, then check them out! Good Luck out there.
I'm Not Going Out There
Okay, this IS the LAST weekend before Christmas, and as always, I am not finished with my holiday shopping. Thankfully, there's online shopping and next day delivery services, because I hate going out there and battling the crowds. What's worse is battling the parking lot. I'm not even going to consider going out there right now. I have to head out, but I'm going to wait until most people are home and sleeping in bed before I go out and finish off my shopping. Thank the maker for twenty-four hour Christmas shopping hours at places like Walmart, Toys-r-us, and some other stores I'm sure. I think I'll just head out to one of the above mentioned though. Wish me luck....
Christmas Meltdown?
I can't believe that after all that snow, there's a possibility that it will all melt away and we'll end up with a green Christmas after all? It's so warm out there right now, and it's supposed to be raining for the entire weekend, so there is a big possibility that it will all be gone by Christmas day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for snow on Christmas Eve, which is what's in the forecast. But hey, you never know with these weather guys. Speaking of weather, it looks like it will be holding off for my drive down to New York. I may have to postpone it for Friday the 28th though, instead of the 27th. The Thursday looks like it might snow, and the Friday looks sunny. Hopefully there won't be any snow, because I'm really looking forward to spending the New Year down there.

Congrats Capella
This blog post is based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit Blogitive.com.
Congrats to Capella University for being chosen as a finalist for a Minnesota Tekne Award! They were actually one of three finalists in the “Technology User” category, which is awarded for “innovative application of products or services resulting in dramatic business improvement or market advantage”. Do you remember Capella Univeristy? They're the online university that I blogged about before. They are a fully online and accredited university based in Minneapolis. According the the Press Release I read, Capella was recently designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. Wow that sounds pretty impressive! Well, the award ceremony took place on Nov. 1, 2007, at the Minneapolis Convention Center, and guess what? It was awarded to Capella University, so Congrats to Capella University for winning! According to the Tekne Awards website, "Capella University's online Information Technology program is among the first completely online IT curriculums in the nation". And "in April of 2007, Capella also launched the nation's first and only PhD program in IT that is fully online-based". Well, with credentials like that, it's only fitting that they won the award for “innovative application of products or services resulting in dramatic business improvement or market advantage.” So if you're looking for an online education in Information Technology, check out Capella University's award winning program.
Winter Bath For Birds
I couldn't believe what I saw today. Since the temperatures outside have gone above freezing, the waterfall at the pond has unfrozen leaving quite a large surface of running water for them to drink from. But they were not just drinking form the waterfall, I actually saw them taking a bath in it. I always assumed they would not take baths in the winter because they might freeze, but then again, they probably know that they won't freeze with such balmy temperatures as 8C. So I guess they don't just take baths to stay cool in the summer. I'm not sure what species it is that keeps coming around in the afternoon, I'm going to have to take a picture and post it if I can catch them on film.

A Wet Christmas?
I can't believe how warm it was today, and I can't believe all the talk that all this snow is going to melt in the next few days. I was really hoping for a white Christmas.... sort of.... Don't really have any of the Christmas spirit this year. I guess that makes me a humbug. Oh well, whether it be white or wet, it just feels like another day for me. I didn't even put up Christmas lights this year, and I refused to partake in the annual tree choosing and tree-putting-up and decorating ceremony with the family. So if it snows again on Christmas eve or it all melts away, I don't really care. I'm more concerned that it stay dry for my drive down to NY. My cousins are seriously making plans for Times Square, which is getting me excited to go. At least there's something I'm looking forward to this holiday.

Payday Loan Quotes
Who among us doesn't like to make money? And when you can do it by just simply blogging? What a bonus! But what if you're blogging money and your paycheck are still too meager even when combined? I guess that's where Payday Loans come in! You can count on Payday for small short-term loan that can range from $100 up to $1,500, even without a credit check. They're also offering the services of a loan fee calculator, and multiple quotes on payday loans. The money can be electronically deposited and repaid from your checking account on mutually agreed upon dates. So if you need some extra cash to hold you over till the next paycheck, check out the Payday loans and have that extra money. Don't forget that the time for holiday shopping is almost over!
How To Approach a Presenting Problem
Let's discuss a diagnostic model for a presenting problem. The first question to ask is "What is the probability diagnosis?". This is based on perspective and experience with regard to prevalence, incidence, and the natural history of disease. Second, "What serious disorders must not be missed?". These include neoplasia, HIV/AIDS, Asthma, severe infections, coronary disease, suicide, intracerebral lesions, and ectopic pregnancy. Third, "What conditions are often missed?". This can be an extensive list including allergies, abscesses, drugs, Paget's and urinary infections. Fourth, "Could the patient have one of the 'masquerade' dx?". And fifth, "Is the patient trying to tell me something else?". I think with this approach it's easy to not miss the diagnosis.

Las Vegas Shows
Well, I think the worst of the winter storm is over. The streets have been cleaned up and it's back to normal again. Sort of.... there's still a pretty good backlog of flights. Speaking of which, being buried under a foot of snow is giving me a case of the cabin fever bug, and I've got my eye on a flight out of this winter wonderland. Did somebody say Vegas? Hey I'm there! I'm up for some gambling, or maybe even some Las Vegas Shows. I heard Celine Dion just had her final performance.... I'm not a big fan of her though, who else is there? Well if you're looking for Las Vegas Hotels and Las Vegas Shows at the best prices, then check out BestOfVegas.com. They've got you covered with the best of Vegas Night Clubs, Vegas tours, attractions, VIP Specials and more. I was browsing through their selection of shows, and saw a Cirque du Soleil Show.... another French Canadian export to Sin City.... I've always wanted to see what that was all about, maybe Vegas is the place to do it. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right? Don't forget to go to BestOfVegas.com before you plan your next trip to Las Vegas. They'll make sure you have the best Vegas vacation possible.
Parols
Where in Toronto can somebody buy a parol? I don't really know of any place. All the parols I have were hand-carried by me from the Philippines when I was studying there and would come home for the Christmas break. Speaking of parols, I'm reminded that about this time, the Christmas countdown begins over there. I bet all the parol vendors are setting up there stalls on the sides of streets. I would always look forward too seeing the spectacle of flashing lights, it was mesmerizing, and it signaled the start of the Christmas season...Wow, is it Christmas time already?! Anyways, I do remember one International specialty shop at Square One in Mississauga, and also one in Erin Mills Town Center. I don't remember the name of the shops. I'm pretty sure you could find an international specialty shop somewhere in the Eaton's Center. Whether they sell parols or not, however, is questionable. I've checke eBay, but they seem expensive to me, but that's probably because I know how dirt cheap they are in the Philippines. Anyways, good luck to you Marc, let me know if you know of any place. And an advanced Maligayang Pasko!
Lotus Project III - Part 4
Well, it's been over a month since I started the third batch of lotus seeds, and unfortunately, they have not done very well. The mold like growth that I first saw in the first lotus project seems to have attacked more of the seeds in the third batch, and with much more virulence. I have lost a total of 6 seeds, which failed to even germinate to viability. Four of the seeds that did produce viable seedlings seem to have succumbed to some kind of blight. It attacks the young seedling turning them black, and eventually the entire seedling dies off. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I changed all the water in the aquarium and removed the gravel. I also exposed the soil from the dead seedlings and soaked them in boiling water. After which I microwaved soil and container for 5 minutes. I've been starting up more seed and hopfully they will take better.
An Online Mortgage Auction?
Hey, everybody knows it's better to shop victoriously one eBay right? There's something satisfying about winning your purchases, not just buying them. But have you ever heard of borrowing victoriously? You can actually go online, and auction for your next mortgage or loan. NameYourLoan.com has created a unique patent-pending concept called “Online Mortgage Auction”. According to them, loans are no different from an auction, because when "lenders bid, you succeed." Basically,How NameYourLoan.com Works is as follows: borrowers get the best loan offers through an online auction, just like on eBay. There are no fees or costs. All a borrower needs to do is to complete a short application online (no Social Security number required). It's the certified banks and lenders which compete with one another to bid lower and lower for a chance to win the borrower's business. It all takes place online, so no need to haggle on the phone. Sound great? Well, if you're in need for a loan, then check out NameYourLoan.com first for your borrowing needs.
Check out the PRESS RELEASE here:
NameYourLoan.com Diversifies Current Lending Environment for Borrowers with New Approach to Online Mortgage Loans.
New online mortgage auction site, NameYourLoan.com, has revolutionized the way borrowers obtain mortgage loans online. As a unique and creative online community, borrowers can easily connect with the best mortgage lenders while lenders benefit from a wealth of real time mortgage leads and opportunities for business growth.
(PRWEB) – In today’s tough lending environment, littered with deceitful lenders and cunning tactics, it’s high time for a revolutionary tool that can empower borrowers yet still benefit lenders. NameYourLoan.com has answered the need with the launch of a new online mortgage auction site designed to give consumers access to an increasing mortgage lenders network to ultimately obtain great online mortgage loans.
“For centuries, auctions have been the most efficient and effective way to get the best deals in everything,” says Al Salahi, President and CEO of NameYourLoan.com. “Why not have auctions for all mortgage loan types?”
NameYourLoan.com is an online community where borrowers can easily connect with the best mortgage lenders. Lenders compete with one another in an online auction to win the borrower’s business. As numerous lenders submit loan offers, the site enables consumers to see “apples to apples”, compare mortgage interest rates and achieve the lowest rate mortgage online such as the best home equity loan rate or home refinance loan.
The site’s sophisticated computer system compiles and calculates all the information submitted by lenders (interest rates, points, fees, terms, etc.) and then ranks loan offers, based on their true worth relative to the borrower’s stated preferences (lowest rate, lowest fees or best combination of rates and fees). This simplified process gives borrowers a coherent presentation of information without having to do the math themselves.
Unlike other online mortgage comparison shopping services, only those lenders who come out at the top of the auction with the lowest interest rates and fees get a chance at the borrower’s business. Moreover, borrowers can invite their friend or relative lender to participate in the borrower’s auction quickly and without cost. Lenders who refuse to participate are most likely high priced and not the best mortgage lenders.
“Through advanced technology, we are starting to make haggling and deceptive lending tactics a thing of the past,” explains Salahi. “At the same time, we are transforming a generally stressful and complicated process into a very pleasant and easy experience for borrowers. Our multiple bid auction format, coupled with constant consumer feedback, will make it easy for us to weed out dishonest lenders—and hopefully put them out of business!”
Use of NameYourLoan.com is completely free for borrowers. Borrowers are under no obligation to accept any of the online mortgage loans offered in the auction. To protect against identity theft and fraud, site users are never asked for sensitive information, and lenders that receive multiple consumer complaints will be barred from future auctions.
For more information, visit NameYourLoan.com.
About NameYourLoan.com:
NameYourLoan.com is the world’s first online mortgage auction, designed to advance the lending process by helping honest and competitive lenders grow their business, and at the same time, make it possible for borrowers to instantaneously reach multiple lenders and receive competitive loan offers online, in an auction format. NameYourLoan.com uses a patent-pending concept powered by sophisticated proprietary software that has been developed by a number of technology heavyweights from the Fortune 500 arena.
Survivor China
Survivor China was probably one of the more interesting Survivors because I really wasn't rooting for anybody in particular. Any of the three finalists could have won, and I wouldn't have really cared. I thought Todd was the better mastermind player though, and come to think of it, he really did deserve to win. During the whole thing, I just keep rooting for all the underdogs like Frosti, Erik, and Pei Ghee.... even though I couldn't stand Pei Ghee in the beginning. I sort of wanted the Lunch Lady to win, but she got $50, 000 in the end so it's okay. All in all, I would have to say that Survivor China made me look forward to the next Survivor.
Front Row USA
Luckily for all the Hannah Montana fans, the snow storm waited for after the Hannah Montana concert. I heard that getting Hannah Montana tickets was next to impossible. I heard about this one guy who had tickets for his daughter, but she got sick and couldn't go, so instead of scalping them he decided to just give them away. Luckily there was a mom and her two daughters waiting outside the concert venue because they couldn't afford tickets but just wanted to be there to enjoy what they could of all the excitement. He found them and decided to give them the tickets.... talk about serendipity. Anyways, we can't all be that lucky when it comes to concert tickets, or sports tickets and theater tickets for that matter. That's why there's FrontRowUSA.com. You can get your Concert Tickets, Theather Tickets, and Sports Tickets online with them, without having to brave those pesky lines and scalpers. Whether you're looking for Hannah Montana tickets, Bruce Springsteen tickets, Celine Dion tickets, NBA tickets, NHL tickets, Wicked tickets, and Young Frankenstein tickets, they've got them for you! It's too cold to be waiting in line, so go check out FrontRowUSA for your ticket needs.

Shovels Away
Whew, I'm sore from shoveling the driveway of all the snow. Luckily the snow that fell was pretty light and dry, so shoveling it was a breeze.... sort of. Actually, I'm lucky that my neighbour has a snow blower, so whenever the snow comes down he's usually the first one out doing the entire court. What a nice guy eh? Not only does he do the court, but he will actually do people's driveways making sure that everyone has at least one route out for their car. Someone really deserves a Christmas present this year. Anyways, since my brother took care of our driveway, I went out and did my next door neighbour's driveway because he usually does ours when he gets out there first. He has a snow blower too. I have to do it the old fashion way, but it's cool, coz I get a great work out from it. Hopefully that's the last of the snow for a while, and hopefully it stays long enough till next week.... White Christmas....

Calm Before The Storm
It's seems pretty quiet right now, but we're all bracing for the winter storm to hit southern Ontario any second now. I was just watching Buffalo T.V. and they were announcing all sorts of church cancellations for tomorrow, so it must be a really bad storm coming. Coincidentally, I just finished watching "The Day After Tomorrow" on Space. Did they time it with the storm for some kind of sick attempt at poetry.... I don't know, but what a scary prospect. Man I need to get to the beach....
Times Square Here I Come?
I just emailed my cousin in New Jersey about her plans for the New Year, and she mentioned Times Square. I rub my hands together in anticipatory glee as I imagine actually being in Times Square when the ball drops instead of just watching it on T.V.... which is how I've spent the past 30 or so New Year's eves.... She definitely peaked my interest in extending my stay in New York/New Jersey into the New Year's day.... Hmmmm.... I gotta think about this one....
Gold!
I have been keeping an eye on the markets lately mainly because of the fluctuating Canadian Dollar. I actually would prefer to see the Canadian dollar weaken, and I've been happy to see that it has finally gone below the US dollar again. Sure it's great to have more spending power when we shop down there, but aside from that I don't think there are many advantages to having such a high Canadian dollar. Some Canadian retailers have lowered their prices, offering us US prices, which is great, I guess that's another advantage.
Anyways, as I watch the markets, it seems that gold is one of the more stable commodities on there. If you think about it, gold has been considered precious throughout history, and I don't think it will ever loose its value. So I guess it would be a wiser investment. Through the Monex Deposit Company (MDC), you can purchase gold or other precious metals as an investment. The Monex companies have been America’s gold and precious metals investment leader for the past 30 years. You can purchase gold in coin or ingot form. They will even deliver it to you. In this time of economic uncertainty, investing in gold may prove effective in diversifying investments, protecting wealth and preserving one’s purchasing power. If you're looking to invest in gold, then check out the MDC website.

Omnitech GPS
I've had a few days to play around with the Omnitech GPS, and I'd have to say that I'm pretty satisfied. Considering it only cost $169.98 minus $20.00 from the online coupon I found (BTW if you want to try it, the code is 67560 and it expires on Dec 15), it ended up costing $149.98 +taxes, which is how much the Mio 220s cost. I really liked the Mio, but it only came with maps for major US streets. The Omnitech has complete maps of the USA and Canada, which is more useful for me. Also, the Omnitech has a 4.3" screen compared to the 3.5" screen of the Mio. I'm not tech savy, so if you ask me the user interface is just fine. The plastic casing looks a little cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. Here are some pictures...
The initial start up took a while to acquire the satellite signal, but I was in the house. When I started it up in the car, it got the signal pretty quick....
I've tried out the Mio and the Garmin, and they pretty much have more features, but I don't really notice that much of a difference with the appearance or functionality of the Omnitech's screen, but then again, like I said, I'm not that tech savvy....
The Omnitech also comes with a stylus and a carrying case, as well as the mount, charger, and car charger...
All in all, I think it's pretty good considering how much it cost. I'm going to have to drive around with it a bit more to see how it performs. So far though it seems to work great. It re-calculates your route pretty quickly when you deviate from the course. I also like the fact that it displays more of the map, instead of just the street you're currently on. I like to see the "bigger picture" when I'm driving. Anyways, I'll try it out some more and let you know.

Okay, I just received the delivery, and it is my GPS, I was so excited that I took a picture for you all....

Their online services open up a variety of Loan possibilities, even for those with bad credit. So whether you need a Personal Loan, Auto Loans, home improvement loans, or heck what about a vacation loan, then check out the BestLeadingLender's online financial services which are available nationwide. Waiting For my GPS
Today is the scheduled delivery date of my new GPS and I can't wait to check it out. Remember how I had bought the TomTom from OfficeDepot online, and it turns out they didn't even have any in stock? Anyways, it's probably a good thing because they weren't very organized, and I'd hate to think about what I would have had to go through to return it in case something was wrong with it. Anyways, I went to my local Staples and bought the Muvi 220, it was pretty good and it was the same price. The problem was that it didn't have a complete map of the US, which is actually why I need a GPS in the first place. Aside from that, it's a great machine. I'm not so sure about how accurate it was because it had me at the wrong home address, but then again I was using it indoors. Anyways, I was actually disappointed that I had to return it, I even tried to download complete US maps online, but I couldn't get it to work. I finally decided to just try the Omnitech. It has a wider screen, but the interface doesn't look as nice as the Muvi. It was $20 more, but as luck would have it, I found an online Staples coupon for $20 off. So it comes out to costing the same. Heck, I might as well try it right, I could always just return it if I'm not satisfied. Anyways, I'll let you know how it is when it arrives. BTW, if you're planning on buying something from Staples online, try this coupon code (if you're spending more than $150): 67560. It's for $20 off and expires on 12/12/07.
Furniture From Home
Hey everybody, remember that chair I wanted for Christmas? Well, I found another great Furniture store online called Furniture From Home. They've got a great selection of furniture from dining room sets, to Living Room Furniture, to Bed room sets, to home office sets, and a great selection of leather furniture too. You can shop online by colour, by style, or by the room you are planning on furnishing. That's pretty convenient, I think. They have several items on sale online too, up to 30% off. I've personally got my eye on their microfiber couch. Sounds like it can withstand those stains. And since we've got a little stain maker named Aiden, a microfiber couch is definitely going to come in handy. I wish furniture shopping is as easy as Furniture From Home makes it. So if you're in need of some new furniture, or heck if you're sick of your old stuff, then check out their website and happy shopping!

Massage Chair
I think I know now what I want for Christmas. Have you ever heard of a chair that virtually reverses the adverse effects of gravity on the body? Well, if that's true, sign me up for on of those! Human Touch announces the addition of the Human Touch HT 7450 Zero Gravity Massage Chair to their extensive line of massage chairs and massage products. Just imagine the four techniques used by professional massage therapists: Percussion, Rolling, Compression, and Kneading. Now imagine that built right into a chair! I challenge you not to be intrigued. They call their unique massage technology, the Quad Roller System. It combines the sensations of hands rapidly tapping on the back, gentle rolling, alternating strokes and relieving spinal pressure, and kneading to work out knots and ease soreness right into a chair. The chair will even calibrate to your particular body frame, focusing your massage in the right areas of your body. What's more, it has an option of a soothing heat feature or a foot massage. Wow sounds like heaven after a long day at work. You know what I'll be asking for from Santa!
Free Burma
It has been over two months since the Myanmar government violently silenced the peaceful demonstrations headed by that country's Buddhist monks. I remember back in August and September when the BBC would have coverage from Myanmar every day. After the crack-down, the coverage has slowly dwindled. You hardly even hear a peep about Myanmar from CNN. But I saw a documentary on the BBC today showing footage from the bloody crack-down, and it reminded me that it's crucial that the rest of the world not forget about what happened, and what continues to happen there. So to add my own drop in the bucket I'd like to post this video so we don't forget.....

Lotus Project III - Part 3
Here's an update on the third batch of lotus seeds that I started. It's been 20 days, and several of the seeds did not make it.
From the original group of seeds, I started three new seeds. Of these, only one has survived into seedling-hood, and it is not doing very well. They all germinated quite well, but one of the seeds was attacked by some kind of mold, and it died even before it could completely break out of the seed. The other two were also attacked by the same mold like growth. One has died and the other has only put out one leaf that has yet to unfurl. I had been cleaning off this mold every day from the surface of the seed, but it would come back everyday. I observed that burying the seed into the soil inhibited the growth of the mold, so I eventually just planted the seedlings so that the entire seed was buried. Unfortunately it was too late for one of them, as the mold had already rotted the embryo. You can see what the mold like growth looks like in this picture, where it has enveloped the new shoot...
Not So Peeved Anymore
Well, I just called the Office Depot 1-800 number to get the charges on my credit card reversed, and the lady told me that I didn't have to worry about it because if the item was not delivered, then my card would not be charged. I was very relieved to hear that, but now I'm thinking maybe I should be peeved that the lady I spoke to yesterday didn't know that. I mean luckily I'm not so so busy that I didn't have time to give them a call to take care of the matter, but it's just the principle of good customer service that I think they should be thinking about. Bottom line is that I don't think I will ever buy anything from the Office Depot website ever again. I actually thought that it was the same website as Staples, which is the store that I like to buy from. Oh well, since Staples is just 1 minute away from my house, I think I should just get off my lazy but and just go there myself.... later...

Help Raise Money For Toys for Tots!
Hey everybody, let's put those online coupons aside for a second and think about how we can help spread the Christmas cheer to little tots who need it! If you are sending eCards this holiday season, you can help raise money for Toys for Tots, by simply sending free eCards to your friends and family with Month2Month.com. It's a totally free, high quality eCard web site that has joined with Toys for Tots. They will make a contribution for every holiday card received. Here's where to find Toys for Tots free eCards. Don't forget the true meaning of Christmas, it's not about shopping and gifts and coupons. Humanity received an awesome gift that first Christmas over 2000 years ago. We should remember that spirit of generosity and love and give of ourselves to those who are in need.
Merry Christmas!
Peeved
Remember how I said that I had just bought a new GPS for my trip down to New York? Well guess what, it didn't show up! I had bought it online on OfficeDepot.com, and they charged my card and everything... delivery was free.... Free because they suck! Apparently they were out of stock. So if they were out of stock, why did they go ahead with my order in the first place? I called their 1-800 number, but they don't even sound like they know what they are doing. They're nice and all that, but I think not very competent, or maybe it's just that their system is not fully integrated. It didn't seem like they knew what was going on with their website. The first girl I talked to seemed like she didn't want to commit to what she was saying, and kept repeating what sounded like a quote from their "What to say when a customer asks you [insert question here]" handbook. The second girl first reassured me that it was on its way, even after I told her what the online order tracking website was telling me.... Then she apologizes because she didn't read on her screen, what I had told her I was reading on my screen..... Anyways, long story short, I have to go look for another GPS. Tomorrow I'm calling them to make sure they refund my card!

Wintry Scenes
I went for a walk in downtown Toronto after the snow storm, and here are some winter scenes for you....
This tree didn't make it.....
I love a good snow fall, it makes for great wintery scenery, but I hate driving in it. Check out my windshield, it was so cold that frost was forming on the inside of my windshield.

Dial Me A Flight!
I just talked to my friend in New York City again, about my trip down there after Christmas. She said I could stay with her if I needed a place to stay. There's always my cousin too though. Well, at any rate, it's not the accommodations that are worrying me right now, but this nasty winter weather! I went ahead and bought a new GPS for the drive down there, but I'm hoping that the winter storms will hold off while I'm driving. I mean I've done the drive by myself plenty of times, but never in the middle of a snow storm! Anyways, if this weather doesn't let up I'm gonna have to look for a flight down there. I'm not really looking forward to spending a lot of money on flights to New York though, so I've been researching some websites for some deals. I found DialAFlight, they have lots of flights to USA at reasonable prices. They also offer hotels and travel ideas for Holidays to USA, and worldwide too! Their website is full of useful travel information, from flights, to hotels, rental cars. They can help you come up with a tailor-made holiday, exactly as you want it. Check them out for their Holiday Offers! So maybe I won't have to drive through this winter weather after all.

Winter Whollop
Whew, that was a pretty bad couple of days of snow! It's nice an sunny right now, but it is so friggin cold. Environment Canada says it will be one of the coldest winters in many years. It sure feels like it. It's not even really winter yet, technically, it's still fall. I'm hoping that it doesn't stay like this for the whole winter. I mean, I'd love to see a white Christmas, since we haven't had one in ages, but I'm hoping for a reprieve of the storms just enough to get me through driving upstate New York. Driving through the slippery slopes does not appeal to me! Anyways, I just bought a new GPS for my trip, if I should decide to go. I've already contacted my friends there, but I have to talk to my cousin. I'm thinking New Years in Times Square. What do you think?
