NYY ALC

So the Yankees just became the American League Champions. I watched the game at Friday's in Times Square, and although I was pleased with how the game ended, ie. the Yankees winning, I was wholly disappointed with the lack of celebration on the streets of New York City. I remember when the Jays won the American League Championship, way back when... twice in a row actually. They closed down Yonge street and we partied into the wee hours of the morning. Oh well, maybe when the Yankees win the World Series, New York will get more excited.

Win a Kitchen Makeover

Hey Canada, what would you do if you won a $20,000 kitchen makeover? Heck, if I won a $20,000 kitchen makeover I would totally go all stainless steel on my kitchen's behind! Definitely a stainless steel refrigerator, the kind with an ice and water dispenser, or maybe the kind with the freezer on the bottom. Of course no kitchen would be complete without a gas stove. Stainless steel of course. Then there's the dishwasher, also stainless steel.

But aside from the appliances, I would change all the kitchen cabinets and cupboards. Something more modern and sleek. Maybe in cherry wood, who knows. I'd like to get one of those island things right in the middle of the kitchen. Oh and you can't forget the floors. I always thought about hardwood floors in the kitchen. Is that weird?

Well Canada, if you want a chance to win a $20,000 kitchen makeover, then check out the Dr. Oetker Kitchen Makeover Contest! Just pick up a PIN from specially marked packages of Casa di Mama Pizza, then visit the Dr. Oetker Kitchen Makeover Contest website, enter the contest and good luck! But even if you don't win the $20,000 kitchen makeover, there are eight secondary prizes of one of the following Whirpool appliances: a fridge/freezer, freestanding electric range, dishwasher or microwave. Plus an additional 2,000 people will instantly win a Casa di Mama Pizza or a pizza cutter.

So what are you waiting for? Enter now, the contest ends on January 4, 2010. While you're there, sign up to be a member of Savoury Moments.Post?slot_id=74592&url=http%3a%2f%2fsocialspark

Good Luck to Me

Well, I have finally finished all the required documents for my application. It took quite a while to complete, but it's all done. I am actually proud of myself for completing it more than a day before the deadline. It's so unlike me to not leave it until the very last minute. I think that I have improved myself a little bit here. I hope this new found un-procrastinating attitude sticks! I also have my friends Ryl and Vivi to thank. They helped me to obtain most of the required documents, so it made my job a lot easier. Thanks guys. Well, for now it's in the hands of the big guy. I'm not really banking on a good result, but I had to try. Plus going through the process now gives me practice for when I have to do it for real next year! Like I said in the title, good luck to me....

Missed Thanksgiving

So I missed Thanksgiving this year. Now I kinda have a craving for some turkey with all them fixins'. It's probably better anyways, I wasn't really in the mood to do all the family stuff this year. Actually, I haven't felt like doing the family stuff for quite a few years now, I've just been forcing myself. And to think, on top of this fact, my ex-girlfriend's mother was going to be at the family Thanksgiving table. I thought that would be doubly weird for me. Thankfully, I'm here in New York until after she goes back home. Too much awkwardness for to handle at the moment. Man, I love New York, but I miss Canada. Especially after watching all the Canada bashing on How I Met Your Mother on Monday night.

Davidoff Cool Water

Let's Talk Perfume for a moment. I have this thing for Davidoff Cool Water, both the men's version and the women's version. There's something about it that makes me feel refreshed, whether I'm wearing it or I smell it on a lady. The smell reminds me of just coming out of the shower smelling all clean and fresh. Maybe it's the name or all the ads about it, but that's just the image that pops into my head when I smell it. I'm actually more partial to the fresh smelling colognes actually, versus the more musky ones. I guess it also depends on where I'll be wearing the cologne to. I guess a hot and heavy date calls for something more musky. Hmmm, I'll have to ask the ladies about that one.

HIMYM Last Monday

I seriously love How I Met Your Mother. Last Monday's episode was hilarious! I especially enjoyed how they make fun of Canada. As a Canadian I don't find it offensive at all. I'm actually impressed that they know so much about Canadian cliches. The funny thing for me is not all the Canada bashing per se.... although it is pretty funny.... and I guess it is pretty Canadian to laugh at yourself. The funniest thing for me is how it makes Americans look ignorant.... haha take that yanks! just kidding....

Nightly Manhattan Walk

So like I was saying, I had a pretty good walk today... I don't exactly remember which route I took today. Unlike other days where I just stick to one avenue and take it all the way up to 100th St., today I did some twists and turns along the way depending on what struck my fancy along the way. The furthest I got though was only 23rd St., I had to grab another shake shack burger because I had a craving for all that burger goodness... It was raining tonight, but at least with wasn't pouring. Luckily I was able to find that awesome umbrella that has that awesome shoulder strap thing... you can even wear it like a backpack... I wear it slung across my back like a samurai sword so when it starts to rain I just unsheath it and bamm! Umbrella! Anyways, here's some pictures from my nightly walk...
man, I need to sleep....

Gold Coin

I have a pretty big collection of old coins hidden somewhere in the back of my closet. When I was growing up, I used to collect coins. Actually, my grandmothers started me on the hobby. They would give me their spare change after one of their overseas trips, so I’ve amassed quite a variety in my collection. My one grandma even saved her coins from the World War II era, so I also have a collection of old and rare coins. Needless to say, I have amassed an interesting coin collection. If only I could find it in that jungle I call a closet.

Seriously speaking though, coin collecting as a kid is one thing, but for the serious collector, a rare gold coin can be a good investment. Monaco Rare Coin offers a unique, vast and impressive array of resources for investors and collectors alike. They can help you assemble a good rare coin portfolio. With over 40 years of experience, the experts at Monaco Rare Coin can guide you with the opportunities available in the rare coin marketplace today. Suddenly Insomnia

I was sleeping pretty soundly a while ago when the roomie suddenly woke me up, and now I can't sleep, so here I am blogging instead. I have to be productive at least because I can't stand wasting time when I can't fall asleep. I got pretty good and tired today on my almost daily Manhattan walkabout. I think I did less than my usual 10 miles though, but my legs still feel pretty worked out. I went for another shake shack burger, I ate it in Times Square.... awesome burger, I love the last bit of buttery hamburger bun goodness. Anyways, I'm gonna try and get some sleep....

eBay Nerd

Somebody please take my laptop away from me, or cut off my access to eBay! I am wasting entirely too much money nerding out on Star Wars stuff! It's just too easy, and it satisfies this long-standing underlying complex I developed when my uncle threw away all my star wars toys when I was just a kid. It scarred me for life, and I guess I've been subconsciously trying to relive my lost childhood. Also, I don't have to ask my parents to get me star wars stuff, like when I was a kid, but it sure puts a big dent in my paypal account.

5th Ave

Just got home from another one of my nightly Manhattan walkabouts.... tonight I did 5th avenue from Washington Square up to 100th St.... actually I started my day on 100th St. and walked down along Lexington Ave stopping along the way to check stuff out, then I went to St. Pat's for mass and benediction, got a falafel at 34th St and walked to Washington Square where I ate said falafel.... then I walked back home to 100th St.... I checked mapquest, and going to Washington Square is a little over 5 miles from 100th St. That means I did 10 miles today.... nice....

Ever thought about having your own domain name? I have always wanted to have my own personalized domain name, but I'm too cheap to go out and find an affordable host. Happy Thanksgiving

SM, I cannot possibly express in words the gratitude which resides in my cardiopulmonary system.... it not only resides in the circulatory pump by which I am ensanguinated, but resounds within the alveoli that oxygenates my being.... from within the depths of my gastrointestinal tract it churns.... and from within the marrow of my axial skeleton it longs to break out and radiate onto you....

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Holy crap, I finally put to rest the whole ex-fiancee issue... and only six years after the fact. I don't know what I was waiting for.... actually, I was waiting for her to finally be ready to talk about it like adults... and I guess I had to just suck it up and make the first move. I'm so relieved that it's out of the way now. I feel like I can finally move past it. Thing is that it feels like I broke up with her all over again. It's all good, I should have gone through this years ago, but better late than never right....
